Operation Bald Eagle is about serving our military in their time of need. We currently serve more than 500 troops with care packages throughout the year. This means with a smaller van that we currently have we must make several trips to the Post Office to drop off packages. Thanksgiving we collected enough dinners for 250+ families. Christmas we have also collected more than enough toys for over 250 families. This all adds up to more space needed to transport supplies. Increased fuel costs and further wear and tear on our vehicle. As well as limiting our ability to respond at all in some circumstances. We also pick up donations and often need a larger van or must deny the donation altogether. In 2012 we are looking to raise funds to making this a reality. If you would like to donate funds to support this effort or are able to donate a vehicle please contact us. Your tax deductible donation can make a real difference in the lives of our military families when they need it the most.

I am a novice quilter and have wanted to try and make some memory quilt blocks for widows and small dolls for children of our Washington law enforcement families who have sacrificed their loved one to the line of duty. I am myself disabled since 2005 with a broken back and watched my life fall to ruins with this accident. Having lost so much I can only imagine the pain of the families who have lost the most important part of their lives. I also have a Chevy Van that is a bit of a gas hog and have been trying to find an economical car to replace it with. If I should be blessed with the ability to do that with out selling the van I would be happy to have you consider it. It DOES have it’s personality, some call this “problems”. It is a 1985 with 108,xxx miles on it, and is reliable to the extent it starts every time and gets from point A to point B reliably as long as their is enough gas to get you there! That eludes to the major headache I have with it: GAS. Between the 27 gallon fuel tank, 4 barrel carb. and average of 10-12 mpg it is not easy keeping gas in it. That pain is only topped with the fact that the fuel gauge doesn’t work properly and I drive based on miles I can expect out of the # of gallons I put in it. Occasionally I forget to write down the mileage at the time of fueling and have run out of gas which is not fun. Like I said personality.
Thank you so very much. I am very sorry to hear about your story. But giving back is certainly chathartic for sure. My wife can empathize with your issue. She has a bad back problem as well. Please give us a call. We would be honored to work with you for any quilting that you might want to help her with.
Thanks also for the van. We look like we will be in a good position to getting something soon to take care of this need. We will post when we confirm.
Sincerely,
Jeff Mitchell
